Hill St. Adaptive Reuse
Downtown Los Angeles, CA
Built on the corner of 7th Avenue & Hill Street downtown Los Angeles, as the Foreman & Clark Department Store & Office Building in 1928. The building evolved to become one of the central anchors for the Historic Jewelry District.
As did many buildings downtown, it sat vacant for many years until it was envisioned to become a 125 unit apartment building with retail on the ground floor. 7th Avenue has become the center of downtown’s revived restaurant and food scene.
The introduction of 125 residential apartments with associated amenities and an outdoor courtyard on the 5th floor will bring energy to this intersection. Historically, the original interior and exterior elements will be preserved and incorporated with the building’s new elements and rooftop penthouse.
